Age-Related Macular Degeneration, Macuhealth and You!
Age-related macular degeneration is the leading cause of vision loss and blindness among patients 65 and older. Also know as AMD, age-related macular degeneration is degeneration of the macula or the part of the retina that is responsible for sharp, central vision. It is this central vision that is needed to drive or read.
AMD is usually a slow and painless process of vision loss, every so often it can be sudden. Early symptoms include shadowy areas in your central vision or fuzzy and distorted vision.
Your eye care professional can often detect signs of degeneration long before symptoms occur. This is done through a retinal exam and/or a test with an Amsler grid is preformed. This is an image with straight lines and a reference dot in the center. A person with macular degeneration may see the lines wavy or blurred or some dark spots in the center.
There is a new supplement for treatment of AMD.
MacuHealth with LMZ3 is a patented natural eye health supplement consisting of the three primary protective pigments found in the macula. Taking this one small, easy-to-swallow soft gel once a day has been clinically proven to restore macular pigments to normal levels for enhanced vision and help in the prevention of age-related macular degeneration. Gluten free.
Low Macular Pigment (MP) is a major risk factor for Macular Degeneration.
MaculaMacuHealth with LMZ3 is a patented nutritional supplement that contains all three components found in the Macula: Lutein, Zeaxanthin and Meso-Zeaxanthin.
Lutein and Zeaxanthin are obtained through food and are found primarily in broccoli, corn, squash and dark green leafy vegetables like spinach and kale. Meso-Zeaxanthin is obtained by an enzyme conversion of Lutein to Meso-Zeaxanthin in the macula. A recent peer reviewed study published, August of 2014, in Journal of Food Processing & Technology has verified the presence of Meso-Zeaxanthin in salmon skin, sardine skin, trout skin and trout flesh. Since many Macular Degeneration patients show an inability to convert Lutein to Meso-Zeaxanthin naturally, supplementing with MacuHealth is imperative. MacuHealth with LMZ3 will ensure that this crucial component of macular pigment accumulates in the macula in a way that is not dependent on an enzyme conversion.
